Connected agents

Connected agents (MCP) registers agents your agency runs, such as Microsoft Copilot, Claude or an in-house agent, so they can work in Spend through its Model Context Protocol server.

  1. Choose the person it acts for. The agent can only do what that person may do.
  2. Pick its tools: searching suppliers, invoices, requests, contracts and the catalog; drafting a request; submitting a request; holding an invoice.
  3. Set its autonomy:
    • Read only: look things up.
    • Draft: also draft requests for the person to check.
    • Act: also submit requests and hold invoices.
  4. Set an amount limit for anything it acts on.
  5. Issue a token. It is shown once; give it to whoever configures the agent.

Your agency’s policy caps every agent’s autonomy and amount. Agents can never approve, award, release a payment or change policy.

Every call an agent makes, allowed or refused, is on the audit ledger under its name. Turn an agent off or revoke its token at any time.
